Emergency Treatment

Lip Rescue treatment

As with any procedure there can be unfortunate but adverse incidents. One of which is a vascular occlusion (VO) or vascular compromise.

This happens when dermal filler is injected straight into a artery or near an artery compromising blood supply to the skin and in some occasion can cause blindness.

There have been very few cases of this but nonetheless Dr Mariam felt it was important to make sure that members of the public have a medical professional to turn to if they feel like they have a VO.

If you feel like you have a vascular occlusion and would like an assessment immediately please contact below.

One of the main signs of a VO immediately is blanched skin (paleness, skin turns white), some VOs can occur after treatment is complete so it is extremely important to know the signs and to act immediately. There is also pain associated with VO.

If a VO is not treated immediately it can lead to necrosis, resulting in surgery and in worst cases irreversible blindness.

Dr Mariam will make sure they are assessed as soon as possible. As she is a prescriber she will be able to administer the reversal agent Hyaluronidase and prescribe any medication necessary.
